Pre-release support page: FilmVoice Studio is still being prepared for public distribution. A real, monitored support email must be configured before this page can be used as an App Store support URL.
System requirements
Current development build
- Apple silicon Mac (ARM64)
- macOS 14 or later
- Microphone permission for recording and input monitoring
- Additional local engine setup for automatic audio/speaker analysis in the current build
The final installation process may change before release. For this candidate, analysis requires separate local dependencies and model downloads. Editing and recording can be used without the analysis engine.
Frequently asked questions
Can FilmVoice Studio edit audio without importing a video?
Yes. Its audio timeline can work in an audio-only project or when the video viewer is hidden.
Where do recordings go?
Arm a timeline track using R, move the playhead to the point where recording should begin, then start recording. The take is saved on the armed track as WAV, subject to the app's save/recovery flow.
Can I move a recording to another track?
Yes. Use the Pointer tool to drag a clip horizontally to change its time or vertically to move it to another track.
Can I move the video viewer or audio editor to another screen?
Yes. FilmVoice Studio supports detachable viewer, waveform editor, library, and inspector windows. The main timeline remains the editing workspace.
Does the software automatically translate dialogue?
Not in the current release candidate. You can organize language-specific dubbing tracks and record translated performances, but automatic translation is not implemented.
Does it export a finished video?
Not currently. The export workflow provides an audible stereo WAV mix; SRT subtitle text export is available when dialogue text has been entered.
Does speaker analysis require an internet connection?
The current development build requires an initial download and setup of a separate local analysis engine and model files. Analysis is designed to run locally afterward. Model detection can be imperfect, especially with overlapping voices.
Is the Mac App Store version available yet?
Not yet. The app still requires final release packaging, signing, and testing before it can be distributed publicly.
Before requesting support
Include your macOS version, FilmVoice Studio build number (shown in About), a description of the issue, and steps to reproduce it. Never send confidential source footage or recordings without arranging a secure transfer.
For troubleshooting, use Help → FilmVoice Studio Help inside the app. If the app launches, Help → Show Application Logs will show you local logs in Finder. Inspect logs for personal information before sharing.
